Nkechi Onyewuenyi

Patient educator at Legacy Community Health

Nkechi Onyewuenyi is a patient educator at Legacy Community Health working in both STD testing and HIV/PreP Navigation. She works collaboratively with the public health team and clinical staff to create innovative ways to meet the emerging needs of the unique populations that they serve at Legacy. This has resulted in the launch of their HIV “Test at Home” Program which has been a success in its first year. She has a B.S in Public Health with a focus on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention from the University of Houston, and currently sits on the Ryan White Planning Council addressing HIV services in Houston and the surrounding area. Her passion is improving access to quality healthcare by addressing both external and internal barriers. Her motto is: “What type of care would you think you deserve as a patient? Provide nothing less for others”.
