Director of Advocacy for HealthHIV
Scott Bertani is the Director of Advocacy for HealthHIV and leads the National Coalition for LGBT Health. Having worked within the field of HIV and communicable diseases for over 20 years, Scott also brings to the table perspectives as both a long-term and graying consumer of HIV services and front-line leader in the care as prevention field.
Prior to joining the staff at HealthHIV, he was a HealthHIV Board Member, as well as the Director of Policy & Community Relations for Lifelong AIDS Alliance in WA State. There, he served for successive terms as the state’s Community Co-Chair to the HIV Planning Steering Group (HPSG); was a multi-year member of Seattle’s Ryan White Planning Council; and served on the state’s Health Care Authority Bree Collaborative’s workgroup on minority sexual health for LGBTQ populations served by Medicaid.
He was a principal to the darating of WA’s first END AIDS Washington Initiative, contributed to the state’s first Hep C Free Washington Plan, and was the community lead on the passing of the Department of Health’s Agency Legislative Package on the STD Modernization statute—to include de-felonization of HIV exposure without intent. Scott was also the HOPWA Project Sponsor for seven counties for over a decade.
